Billy ("we", "us", or "our") helps you scan receipts, split bills, track spending, and share settlement details with friends. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we use it to provide the Billy mobile app and website.

1. Information We Collect

  • Account data: name, email address, profile image, authentication identifiers, settings, onboarding answers, currency, and preferences.
  • Receipt and bill data: receipt photos, merchant names, line items, prices, taxes, service charges, totals, categories, recurring payment details, and saved history.
  • Split and sharing data: friends, friend codes, item assignments, shared bill requests, settlement status, and optional settlement messages.
  • AI input: typed instructions, chat messages, and the receipt or budget context needed to generate AI outputs.
  • Subscription data: RevenueCat and Apple App Store product identifiers, entitlement status, renewal status, expiration dates, and transaction references.

2. How We Use Information

  • Authenticate your account and keep your profile in sync.
  • Extract receipt data from images and split bills.
  • Save receipt history, budgets, friends, and shared bill activity.
  • Provide Billy Pro features and enforce subscription limits.
  • Generate AI chat and spending insights from your Billy data.
  • Maintain security, debug issues, and comply with legal obligations.

3. AI Processing

Billy sends receipt images, typed instructions, chat messages, and limited account context to third-party AI providers through OpenRouter when you use AI features. This processing is used only to provide the requested app functionality. Billy does not sell receipt data or use it for cross-app advertising.

4. Service Providers

We use trusted providers to operate Billy, including:

  • Clerk for authentication and account identity.
  • Convex for app data storage and backend functions.
  • RevenueCat and Apple for subscription entitlement and billing state.
  • OpenRouter and model providers for AI receipt, split, and chat features.

5. Data Retention And Deletion

We keep your account, receipt, friend, budget, and shared bill data until you delete it or delete your account. Account deletion in Billy removes your Billy account data, saved receipt images, receipts, budgets, friends, and shared bill records from our systems, except where retention is required for legal, security, or billing records.

6. Security

We use encryption in transit, provider access controls, and least-privilege service credentials. No internet service can be guaranteed to be perfectly secure, so you should only upload receipts and information you are comfortable processing through Billy.

7. Your Choices

  • You can update your profile and preferences in the app.
  • You can delete individual receipts where the app provides that option.
  • You can delete your account from the Billy account screen.
  • You can cancel subscriptions through Apple App Store account settings.
